Who is Ryan, Ryan Can Make It.. Motivated Makers? Instantly Unique?
Hey everyone! So, as you can guess, my name is Ryan and almost 4 years ago, I decided to take my hobby of crafting and turn it into a real business: Instantly Unique Gifts. Throughout making the different handmade gifts, I discovered that I really love the art of sublimation printing and crafting in general. Over the years on social media, I have shared some tutorials here and there and they historically have done pretty well! I really enjoy showing others how to do things they didn’t know how to do or even know was possible. After all, you don’t know what you don’t know.
TikTok was and still is my main follower base. Most of my audience on TikTok is other makers like myself so, in early 2023, I changed my username on TikTok from @instantlyunique to @ryancanmakeit because I was like hey, I am more than just a gift maker! I like to do DIY projects that I don’t actually sell or want to sell, I like to share bits and pieces of knowledge I have gained over the years like building out different parts of Shopify and other business related topics. I said to myself and my peers: I am more than just my Instantly Unique Gifts brand. My peers and my inner self agreed so I changed my username.
But soon after, TikTok had other plans and today, my TikTok is blended family of makers like you and I with customers who want to see the next new product I roll out that they can personalize and gift. This is due to the addition of TikTok shop. My username on TikTok is still @ryancanmakeit and for a brief period of time, my display name showed Ryan Can Make It! However, the moment I signed up to sell on TikTok shop (which changed my life BTW… but that’s a story for another day!), it reverted my display name to my business name of Instantly Unique Gifts so, if you follow me on TikTok, you get a little bit of everything!
Even though TikTok is where most of my crafting friends and audience was, I had this desire to share and I honestly wanted to gain some exposure outside of TikTok to reach other like minded makers like myself. That’s when I created this blog you’re reading right now. I originally was going to post my blog on my ecommerce site: instantlyunique.com but I immediately was like… this isn’t a great idea long term. I don’t feel like a customer who is buying a personalized mug is going to be the same person who wants to learn how to start an Etsy shop, for example. So, the ryancanmakeit.com domain name was purchased and this blog was created. I have been here slowly growing my content for you all as I find time to write a tutorial or review between holidays or slower periods of sales from my main income source: Instantly Unique Gifts.
I hope that cleared up any confusion between my social media of Ryan Can Make It and Instantly Unique Gifts. Instantly Unique Gifts is where I sell my handmade creations which are mainly personalized cups, mugs, keychains and things of that sort. Ryan Can Make It is where I do some tutorials, DIY projects and show you fun new crafting equipment.
But what’s this Motivated Makers thing? Motivated Makers is what I decided to call you: my crafting family! You’re not Ryan, so I can’t call you my Ryans. You’re handmade artists, you’re makers and you’re motivated to make something because you’re here, learning something new and getting motivated. So, thanks for being here my Motivated Makers!
