My Journey with Audiobooks

Today, I want to share a cool story about how I found a neat way to learn new stuff – by listening to audiobooks. It’s been quite the adventure, and I’m excited to tell you all about it!

So, picture this: I’ve always been eager to learn new things, especially about crafting and running a small business. But, I’ll be honest, sitting down and reading a physical book just wasn’t my jam. I struggled to focus and found myself drifting off after just a few pages. That’s when I had a bright idea – what if I tried listening to podcasts instead?

I started out by listening to podcasts about Etsy and small business growth. I figured if I could stay engaged with audio education and entertainment, maybe audiobooks could work for me too. And you know what? It totally did! I found myself hooked on absorbing all kinds of cool info while on the go, whether I was driving, cleaning, or running errands.

Here’s a few Podcasts I have listened to over the years that I enjoy:

Then, one day while I was cutting hair at my then job as a hairstylist, a client recommended a book called “Every Tool’s a Hammer” by Adam Savage. They knew I was into crafting and making stuff, and they thought I’d really dig it. So, I decided to give it a listen – and boy, am I glad I did!

Every Tool's a Hammer Audible book by Adam Savage from Myth Busters.

In this book, Adam Savage – you might know him from a show called “MythBusters” – shares all kinds of cool stories and lessons he’s learned as a maker and creator. He talks about the importance of being creative, trying new things, and never giving up – all stuff that really resonated with me.

Since then, I’ve been hooked on audiobooks. I listen to them all the time – when I’m driving, when I’m doing chores, even when I’m painting a room! They’re a great way to learn new things and get inspired, without having to sit down and read a boring old book.

I hope to give you, the readers, more book recommendations as I finish more books. Audiobooks can be anywhere from an hour and a half to 24+ hours to listen to, so be on the lookout for more book posts and comment below if you’ve read this book or have any book recommendations.
