DIY Fireplace Makeover: Transform Your Space with Budget-Friendly Marble Chips

Hey everyone!

I’m super excited to share our latest home improvement project with you all — we just gave our fireplace a fabulous makeover! 🏠🔥

We’ve been wanting to spruce up our fireplace for a while now, especially after tiling it recently. The inside was screaming for a fresh look, and we were initially drawn to the idea of using glass fireplace rocks.

But let’s be real, those can be pretty pricey. So, in true DIY spirit, I thought, why not try something different?

During one of my many trips to Home Depot, I stumbled upon these marble chips in the landscaping section, priced at just around $6.50 per bag. Perfect, right? Since we don’t actually use our fireplace for burning wood and it’s all about the aesthetics, I figured these would be a fantastic, budget-friendly alternative.

These are the marble chips I used from Home Depot:

I grabbed two bags, which was more than enough to cover the entire fire pit. Before spreading them out, I had to rinse off all the rocks to get rid of the powdery residue they come with. It was a bit of a chore, but honestly, it was so worth it for the savings!

Once cleaned, I spread the marble chips evenly across the fireplace bed. The transformation was immediate, and I absolutely love how it turned out. The chips gave our fireplace a clean, modern look without breaking the bank.

Believe it or not, this is like the fourth time we’ve redone our fireplace! Each attempt has taught us something new, and I think we’ve finally nailed it this time. I’m planning to write a post soon about our previous attempts to update the dated brick fireplace that came with our house. Spoiler: there were some hits and misses!

Stay tuned for more DIY adventures, and if you’re thinking of giving your fireplace a makeover, I highly recommend giving these marble chips a try. They might just be the budget-friendly solution you’re looking for.

Happy DIYing!

Cheers,
Ryan
